Corporate Social Responsibility is alive at Alcoa in Soest

The Alcoa location "Auto and Truck Structures" in Soest has been very active again in supporting the local communities this year. The Alcoa volunteers already invested parts of their leisure time on 4 Saturdays this year for the so called "ACTION" projects offered by Alcoa Foundation, ACTION = Alcoans coming together in our neighbourhood. 10 employees are donating at least 4 hours of their time for a charitable organization. In 2008 the Thomae school was able to profit from this commitment, in March the volunteers renovated the cafeteria of the school. Since April the outside of the kinder garden "Sternschnuppe" is shiny and new again and in June the entrance area of the Aldergrever high school was painted by the Alcoa volunteers. At the 4th and last ACTION event for 2008, the kinder garden "Zappelphilipp" was the organization of choice, the Alcoa employees helped the teachers to redesign their garden in August. All 4 organizations received a US$ 3,000 check each in addition to the work which had been accomplished by the Soest volunteers.
